At Solarama, we believe that businesses should put people & the planet before profits - hence the ‘.org’. To make a difference, we focus on building socially impactful partnerships with non-profits and community projects that generate solar synergy.
What is ‘solar synergy’?
Solar synergy happens when we work with our non-profit (NP) partners to raise solar awareness and deliver cost (& carbon)-saving solar solutions to their supporters.
In return, when a homeowner switches to solar, we donate $1,000 to that NP partner’s fundraising campaign, PLUS 50% of our revenue from each project.In the spirit of building trust, we operate an open-book approach with our NP partners. That simply means that they can see what goes through our books - income and costs.

How fundraising with solar works
It starts with a discovery call
Our Team has experience fundraising in various sectors including community energy, education, and mental health services which enables us to better understand your challenges. At this early stage, we have an informal virtual chat to see if we can help you reach your goals.
Partnership Agreement
If there is sufficient synergy between our goals we establish a partnership agreement including a supporter-based communication strategy that will govern how we work together to achieve your fundraising goals.As an important part of this process, our NP partner will join the ranks of Powur’s Ambassador Program which means you’ll get paid $1,000 each time one of your supporters switches to solar through Solarama.org.
Working Together
Having agreed on our goals and our communication strategy, we begin a joint campaign to communicate our solar fundraising proposal to your supporters. This will typically involve sending email messages to introduce Solarama.org and our new partnership.Those interested in participating can opt-in to a follow-up by phone call to schedule a virtual consultation. Or they may also have the option of joining an info webinar. We will never cold call your supporters or have anyone knock on their door unsolicited .
Solar Consultation
Our virtual solar consultations with your supporters generally take place over two sessions. Solar education is key: we want everyone to understand what it means to go solar and whether or not it makes sense for their home. For every NP supporter we consult with, we donate $25 to our NP partner.The first session is relatively brief: we explain who we are and how the process unfolds. Importantly, we also collect information on their property and their energy usage which we’ll use to design the most appropriate solar system to meet their needs.During the second session, we present your supporters with tailored solar proposals for their home. We only recommend going solar if it makes financial sense for them. We also take all of the necessary time to answer their questions so that they can make an informed decision - without any pressure.
Supporters make a decision
Our golden rule is that homeowners must end up saving money. If going solar doesn’t meet this criteria, we make it clear. We make sure that your supporters have all of the information they require in order to make a well-informed decision about going solar.If your supporters agree to go solar, contracts are signed and the installation process can begin with one of our engineers conducting an on-site survey of the property.In cases where solar makes sense but supporters decide that solar is not for them, we respect their decision. We always leave the door open for homeowners to come back to solar if/when their circumstances change.
Funds are raised
Once a solar proposal is accepted and we’ve completed a site survey of the home, we can finalise what our revenues will be for this project and let you, our NP partner, know how much your 50% share will be. Of course, in addition to this share of our revenue, Powur will pay you $1,000 directly as their Ambassador.Our open-book policy ensures that you can see exactly who is being paid what - we have nothing to hide!
Solar is installed on another home!
Before long, our installers will be confirming dates for the site work to be undertaken. All that usually takes is a few days followed by the necessary inspections. Finally, it’s time for the utility to turn on the solar power - and for the homeowner to start saving money!We stay involved with your solar-switching supporter all the way through to this final point, helping with comms and smoothing out any wrinkles along the way. From the moment a homeowner decides to go solar, it becomes our top priority to make sure that journey goes as well as possible or them.
